Hi Everyone,
i import my project in unreal 5.5 ( I tried also with the unreal sample content)
here the result in unreal 5.5
result in unreal 5.3
(I fîllup a bug report but I didn’t receive a response after a few weeks I thought I was wrong)
maybe I need to change some parameters in unreal ?
thank you for your help.

Engine shaders changed a lot because of the Substrate feature recently added.
I would stick to 5.3 for a while.

thank’s for the heads up
i wanted to try the new lumen raytracing because they remove the raytracing in UE 5.4
(PLEASE ! - Don't remove Raytracing Reflection (Deprecated) in 5.4 - #13 by Rawalanche )
I tried also in substrate with the sample project but it seems not working also
But not having the anisotropy is like coming back 5 years in quality all the metals look dull.
so yeah, there’s no choice but to stay in 5.3 until they fix it.
Have a nice day.

I can’t reproduce this.
Anisotropy works correctly for me in 5.5 for both substrate and legacy materials.

Hi Arkiras,
Thanks for your quick response
Good to know,
it’s strange i tried on my two computers I have the same issue
I am using layer material maybe it’s why ?

Yeah that could be, I haven’t tested with layered materials
In 5.4 anisotropy doesn’t work for Nanite objects (without Substrate). Perhaps it’s the same in 5.5?
Edit: just to add - Anisotropy also doesn’t work with RectLight or HDRI backgrounds in UE5.4.

Yes, Anisotropy is not working for me with a Rect Light (works with Point Light) in a Substrate material and UE 5.5.4.

Anisotropy doesn’t work at all for me in 5.5.4 with normal materials if the mesh is using Nanite.
Nanite+Substrate works, but looks steppy

This is just a limitation of rect lights, anisotropy has never worked with them. I asked about this in the substrate thread and was told they want to support it but there’s no ETA .

I don’t know if you resolved the issue but, specifically if nanite support is enabled for a static mesh and you are using non-substrate master material, you cannot see any visible change on specular by changing anisotropy, if you disable nanite support for the static mesh(es), the anisotropy starts to work again.
