Animation blueprint variable being overridden by Default Value


I’m trying to control a FABRIK effector transform using a pawn controlled in VR. With my current set up I am trying to set the world position as a variable which is being successfully printed on play, however the variable is showing 0.0.0 across transforms in the animation graph. Manually changing the Default Value of the variable is working as expected, although seems to be ![alt text][1]overriding any input from the Pawn.

Any thoughts where things could be going wrong?
