Is ART v1 supported/working in Maya 2018? The marketplace page says up to Maya 2017: https:///marketplace/maya-tools
Also, is it possible to script any of the actions (in Python or MEL)? For example, switching between “Global” and “Offset” modes during skeleton setup?
I’ve been using AdvancedSkeleton in Maya, but it’s gotten a little too buggy and heavy for me…looking for something that plays nicer with UE4 and would like to avoid scripting my own rig.

I uninstalled ARTv1 to use with maya 2017. It works just fine, except for when I open a saved file that contains the ART stuff that I had recently saved - it results in an instantaneous crash that doesn’t throw any information at me. I used the dropbox in the OP and replaced/added files within the UE4 marketplace files for ARTv1, and I get a similar error now.
I had read a post stating that ARTv2 was available on Github, but the Github 404s - even after linking my Github account with my Epic Games account. Are there any solutions for my situation? I’ve been trying to switch off of HIK for hand-keying and use ART, but the lack of being able to save is an obvious deal-breaker. To tide me over, I’ve tried to export the Mannequin from UE4 and import it to Maya to animate with HIK, but the controller shapes don’t match the bone orientations, leading to very awkward problem solving trying to figure out which way you want to rotate the gizmo to get the result you want.
@Epic: It would be helpful to know whether ART v1 is still being maintained at all and if we can expect a version that is compatible with Maya 2018 in the near future.
Thanks for the quick response! Just out of curiosity. Since left and you’ll obviously need character rigs in the future. I wonder if Epic is actually working on a ART successor internally and is there a chance it will be made available to us devs in the future?

I’ve just try with ART, I’m working in Maya 2017, but I’ve got 2 problems here. the first is the template that I saved doesn’t memorize new data and when I load it again, I have to set up all at the beginner, the second is when I build control rig, it’s just loaded 80% and stop. please help me solve it, I really appreciate and thank you so much for your tools,
I gave this one day of trying to install, I just gave up. Both ARTv1 and ARTv2 seem impossible to use. I’ve added all the fixes for the install file for ARTv2 mentioned here, none of them work, just get a different error every time. ARTv1 install is impossible as Maya refuses to load userSetup as a plugin (apparently it’s an unrecognized file type in Maya LT 2018). So, guess I’m creating my own rig. Shame really, I remember these tools used to be pretty great and sped up the process quite significantly. Oh well.
Hi everyone! I’m absolutely loving this tool, thank you for creating it and sharing it with us.
I’ve been able to use all the features without much issue except one:
Saved maya files containing an added character for animation crash upon re-opening them.
I can add a character for animation to my scene without any trouble and even animate it. At the end of the day I save my file and close it. Then when I come back to the file it loads up the character only to promptly crash, sometimes with, and sometimes without, a “fatal error” window.
It crashes regardless of whether or not I put any animation keys on the file. It crashes with a mannequin setup and with my custom model.
Upon inspecting the CLM log in my temp folder, it’s seems to be stuck on a loop of validating my Maya license. (I think, I don’t know how to properly read these)
I uploaded a text file with the clm printout.
I’m using the latest version ART 1.0 downloaded and installed from the marketplace. I started out using the toolset in a student version of Maya 2017. When I ran into this issue, I changed my license to the free trial (Maya 2017) to see if that would change anything. It did not.
I can edit the export and rig files just fine, I can even create an animation file from scratch and work on it. I just can’t re-open that anim file after closing it.
Let me know if I left out any important specs.

(I’m a newbie in UE4) I am trying to create a controllable vehicle (blimp) with animated parts (levers, hatches etc.). Having designed the model in Blender3D and imported it in .FBX, i tried to correctly animate the twisting lever.
Shortly, my question is: What is the best and healthiest way to implement vehicles with highly detailed collision and movable parts?
Here is a little more detailed story of my attempts:
Firstly, i imported both main blimp body and lever in one .fbx file. The reason i did not import both as independent files is because then i wouldn’t be able to precisely dispose the lever exactly where it locates in .blend file (i don’t know how to do it in UE4). With such approach, i received two independent objects within UE4, but the origin point of Lever object was consequentially imported from .blend file 0 point. I successfully imported empty SOCKET_ object at the position of the lever’s .blend origin point but i don’t really know how to attach my lever to the socket making it spin on it.
Then, i tried to import my blimp together with parented lever as a skeletal mesh object. The attempt was successful but then encountered problem with collisions: i need a detailed Per-Poly collision (at least for this test period) but my mesh was generated with a simplified one. I managed to import the blimp again as a static mesh and apply its UCX_ custom collisions (i simply renamed my mesh for it) to skeletal mesh. It didn’t work and now i don’t know what to do.
hey everyone, short question. when i create a cube and then create a space switcher, how do i delete cube again?
As example:
Target Space: Cube
Control: Wrist
i tried to delete it in hypergraph editor, but that ends in the result that wrist with be 0,0,0 and not its orignal position.
also tried out the connection editor, but also it had no luck.

Hello I recently ran into a problem with ARTV1 in Maya 2017. Whenever I try to add a character to animate, an error pops up saying that there are no characters found in scene and then asks if I would like to add a character now. When I click yes, nothing happens.
After the latest video on Blender to Unreal engine & the fact that blender 2.8 is getting lots of serious attention from the industry pros and Many big players like NVIDIA/Ubisoft/AMD/Epic all signing on to fund blender development.
I really hope Blender will now see the the ART plugin from epic, It would be a huge boon for games developers using blender
