I have tried every trick in the book, updating drivers, and chipset drivers, to reinstalling windows. I think it is a problem with the account system or something because I logged in from a friends computer and suddenly he had the same problem. but only if it was logged from my account and not his.

me too, the last update.

hey guys. I was able to fix. Although I couldn’t tell you the EXACT steps… but here goes:

I uninstalled epic launcher and reinstalled from their website.
so I also did a couple things other people suggested, which I’ll admit sounded kind of stupid, but I guess one of them worked:
One fix was to disable dual monitors. So only use one monitor throughout the entire process.
after reinstalling epic launcher and disabling your second monitor: REBOOT.

I changed my drive for the engine, as someone said the download was maybe faster than the drive speed? I also think one of my drives may have something wrong with it.

I ALSO, Changed my vaultcache location, different drive, and fresh folder with nothing in it.

so to recap,
uninstall, redownload/reinstall epic launcher.
Disable dual monitor setup.
Reboot.
Change to different drive for engine install, and change vaultcache to different drive and fresh folder.

Good luck hope it helps

they fixed it

This is not a driver issue. Read my twitter longblueshort.

Huh magically they posted an update to the Launcher 16.01 and it seems to be working, but sure lets change all my settings and uninstall and all that crap first. Lame.

No they did not, sorry.

Not running a dual monitor setup here, I suspect some others may not be, so for us that’s not an option.

-I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times.
-I changed to different install drive
-I can’t even get the launcher to launch, so anything such as changing the vault cache location is not an option for people in my situation.

Still insta-crash with the above screen every time the launcher is launched.

That tells me that it’s an account issue of some sort. Gotta be on the Epic server end.

i have been able to sort of fix it as now it will run with no problems. what i did was to delete the web cache and the logs before opening epic store. another thing that i have noticed is that mine will only crash if i don’t have my other monitor plugged in, in contrary to what have worked for others. i don’t know why this is it but maybe this will help someone out.

Hello, i just logged in to day and I seem to be in the same predicament as well as the other users above. Is there any new fix on this concern team?

My error is this:

Thank you and hoping for your quickest response as the concern seems to have been an on going concern for some users.

I had the same problem. They have fixed it already with the 16.01 update. In my case, the launcher was crashing right away so I was unable to update it. To fix it, I used a VPN, set the server to USA, opened the Epic Games Launcher → Settings → Update and restart. I haven’t encountered the error again after updating the launcher. I uninstalled the VPN and the launcher is still working fine. Hope this helps those experiencing the same problem

OMG!!! I had it fixed, and now its crashing again! So aggravating!!!

Just did the launcher update and its still borked.

clearing epic launcher webcache does not help. turning off full screen optimization doesn’t help. reopening installer and repairing install doesn’t help.

reinstalling epic launcher fixed crashing. also changed graphic card drivers to studio instead of game ready

and to re-add engines that were already downloaded Installing Unreal Engine | Unreal Engine 5.3 Documentation

Ok nevermind, its back to crashing again… Is anyone else trying to build the engine from source?
