Hey there,
I’ve been running in to an issue with my alembic groom being imported into Unreal 5.3.2.
I’ve tried multiple configurations, but every single one of them seems to have this weird effect where, if I’m far enough away (and I don’t have to be far away at all), I get a weird banding or strobing effect that seems to be effectively culling the groom material’s rendering. Shadows appear to still be present even when they’re culled.
I’m providing a rendered video below, along with some screenshots. One shows the culling when I zoom in from a distance. The video itself shows how the banding effect changes it’s overall “depth”, based on the distance of the groom.
I can even see this effect in unlit mode, so it doesn’t appear to be a cause from lighting, necessarily.
Does anyone know what’s going on with this? The grooms worked perfectly fine in UE4, so maybe this issue is unique to UE5? Would love to find a workaround.
