After 10 mins editor crashes monitor but computer keeps running (makes sounds)

Ok, so my monitor cuts out after like 5-10 minutes of building my game in the editor.

I’m in Unreal 5.4 . Out of the blue it just slows down for a few seconds and then suddenly the monitor cuts out. It says HDMI 2 disconnected, only way to reconnect it is to restart, sounds still play when it’s like this, the computer makes noises so it’s still running, but I can’t see anything so I restart. That reconnects the monitor.

Obviously this is no good, If I can’t develop the game for longer than 10 minutes without restarting, I will have to abandon my project. And since this problem reoccurs even in a template project, same thing happens, I basically can’t develop games at all anymore.

[I did notice the same crash once when I was testing a graphically advanced game, I think Resident Evil 2 or something. Most games run fine. It may be my machine.]

I am thinking to go back to my old 1080 ti machine, because at least I can develop something in there, can anyone fix this so I can build my game again?

I tried this fix, with no luck:

I couldn’t find much on the forums that seemed similar to my problem, at least none with all the elements.

Hey there @RikakoOryo! This sounds like a GPU driver crash from using too many resources or another driver issue, or overheating. May I know your specs? If possible, start with a clean installation of your GPU drivers.

this is a gpu issue. i get that sometimes if i stress my gpu too much. i still don’t know exactly what’s the cause (heat or low power, but i assume is heat).

it also happens with games, so defo not a ue problem.

about nvidia drivers, you need a special uninstaller from their website to correctly remove it. then use the studio drivers, they are more stable, the game ready driver tend to cause issues with ue and other apps.
