Add images to a texture in UE5

Hi all, my question for today is how do you add an image to a material in UE5. To be more specific, I’m trying to add some logos and what not to an aircraft model, it’s a complex model and I’m trying to add small and large logos all over it, and doing it in Substance Painter, although easy, doesn’t look very nice.

My instructor back in college said there’s a way to overlay your PNG image files directly over your texture and he even used a bunch of masks to make like worn out t shirt logos and such, but I can’t for the life of me remember how he did it. I know it’s plugging the actual image into a node of some sort to get it to go over your material. If anyone is vaguely familiar with this method I would love to hear from you.

Also I know decals are a thing, but I’m not exactly sure if making a million decals to add all the logos I want to this airplane model is the best way to go. Thanks for the help!

Hello @AstroCyclone71,

You’d be adding logos per-material. (so if you have multiple material channels on your aircraft you’d need to create multiple overlay textures) But I think this is the method that you are thinking of:
