Actor Collider on Smoke particle doesn't remain consistent (appears to bounce once, and that's it)

I’m trying to make realistic smoke, that bounces off an overhang before going up and over. It seems to be looking pretty good, I have damping at about 1.0 on x,y,z for MAX and 0 for min–I think what I need to play with is Max Collisions - I set it really high (1000) but I guess it needs to go much higher. However, I’m so new at this, I want to make sure there is not a better way to do this. Any advice?
