Hello, this is my very first post here, so hello to everybody.
I am currently exploring Virtual Production with Unreal, we have a TV studio with a Tricaster. I am using the virtual set capabilities of Tricaster, but the use of Unreal Engine would be a big leap in terms of realism and interaction.
Here is the issue… many studios use PTZ cameras, remotely controlled, and would be easy to track rotation and position, using, for example, the Vive tracker, but the zoom factor is quite an hard task.
So i was wondering how to control Virtual Cameras in Unreal togheter with the PTZ physical controller, so to achieve a perfect match between the subject and the virtual studio.
Then yesterday i had an idea… many application have a software controller for this kind of cameras, like Tricaster itself have an interface to do this, then why not control the PTZ cameras directly FROM the Unreal Engine, and trasfer these parameters to a virtual camera inside the Unreal Engine, so to have a joystick driven camera that drives both virtual and real cameras, for a perfect foreground/background match?
Maybe something like this already exists? What do you think?
