Able Ability System Info and Support Thread

Able 3.75b (for Beta) has been submitted for UE5. Notes below.

Able v3.75b (Only available for UE5, no changes for other versions as it’s 99.9% fixes for getting up and running on UE5)

UE5.0 specific changes

Preview / Target asset drop downs no longer feature the asset thumbnail. Clicking on the icon (currently a green placeholder skeleton) will cause the asset to reset, clicking on the (…) next to the button will show the asset selection drop down.

Preview / Target assets must now inherit from Pawns or higher (Character, etc). This change is what most people were using anyway, and prevents the drop downs from hitching horribly by trying to load every Actor you may have created.

The Preview / Target changes are only within the Editor. Able can still execute an Ability on any Actor with an Able Ability Component (Pawn or otherwise).

Since all Preview assets must be at least Pawns, the “Select a Preview Asset” dialog is now simpler and immediately offers a list of available Preview Actors.

Timeline values during previewing an Ability are now rounded to the 3rd decimal place. This is just a display change.

Editor scene has changed.

Icons are in the midst of being recreated as SVGs, so some placeholders exist (namely the Preview / Target buttons).

Removed the “Show Cost” option, it needs a new icon and I want to try to improve that functionality to be less static guesses.
