5.8 disabling "geometry cache" plugin causes crash in packaged build

Summary

I wanted to disable the “geometry cache” plugin.
However unfortunately I cannot, because doing so will cause a crash when starting the packaged game. The crash message is:
[File:C:\Users\Username\Documents\GitHub\UnrealEngine_5_8\Engine\Source\Runtime\Engine\Private\ShaderCompiler\ShaderCompiler.cpp] [Line: 4974]
Missing global shader FCopyVelocityGridCS’s permutation 0, Please make sure cooking was successful.

Disable the “geometry cache” plugin using the plugins manager window in unreal.

Then launch packaged game and see it fail to launch.

Additional Notes

The core problem seems to be that disabling any plugin which in-turn disables the “Hair strands” plugin, will result in the packaged game crashing.

This means there is a plethora of plugins that would cause this crash if you disabled them, not just geometry cache.

This is a problem for people like me who are trying to make their build small by removing plugins.
