5.5-5.6 Interchange consistent hang on FBX Skeletal mesh import, happend on two different PC's.

Interchange hangs on import 100% of the time for me if I import a skeletal mesh after loading a level that its used in. Ive left it for hours before and its never completed its import. Is there a way to fix this or is it just a current bug with interchange? This happens with every skeletal mesh I import its not an asset related issue. If it helps In my particular instance this is for assets that are skeletal meshes used within Metahuman blueprints. These particular blueprints were migrated from 5.5 to 5.6 (metahumans were updated to 5.6 as well as the skeletons) if I disable interchange or import the skeletal mesh right after i load into Unreal it imports fine. This only occurs if I load the level the skeletal mesh is used in and then import while that level is loaded and interchange is enabled.
