As in the subject. I am loosing my mind and patience. Even quite simple scenes can crash, it’s not easy to reproduce on light scene, but on heavier scenes it is every time (opening material editor and selecting a texture node, for example). I think it could be something with UI or something.
It crashes like mad with a crash summary attached below.
I have a decent PC, RTX 2080, i9-7940X CPU @ 3.10GHz, 128gb ram, Full HD display.
4.26 does not crash at all and I use it every day.
Here’s the basic crash report, perhaps someon can relate.
The best I can say is (DX12 is not very stable in 4.26 or 5EA). Update your graphics card drivers often. I’ve found running in DX11 to be much more stable, but that defeats some of the purpose of the newer rendering tech. You might try to see if setting your RHI (search for rhi in project settings) to DX11 helps.
I’ve had the same issue with 4.26 and pretty much UE4 entirely. I really think this is a driver issue. Do a clean gpu driver install and let me know if it helped.
Recently been working in a UE4 project where a very similar sounding D3D12 crash was happening to me whenever I messed around with water bodies in a complex map. Call me crazy, call this out there, but I narrowed my problem down to something to do with Steam.
If Steam was running, consistent crash every time at the same point. If Steam was closed, no crash. I have no idea why but that was what solved it for me when nothing else would work. Lost a couple of days over it until I finally tried that. Not saying it will work for anyone else reading this but if all else has failed, there’s one more thing you can try.
I truly know the frustration and clumps of hair torn out over this stuff.
