[40.40] VFX Powerup Device not Persisting on Elimination

Summary

Since the 40.40 release VFX Powerup Devices with ‘Custom Effects’ are not always persisting when a player is eliminated.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Make a simple Niagara System with a Mesh Render using default Cube mesh
  2. Set Niagara System as ‘Custom Effect’ in VFX Powerup Device that has ‘Persist on Elimination’ Enabled
  3. Start Game & Pickup VFX Powerup Device
  4. Respawn

Expected Result

The VFX Powerup Device persists for the player after eliminated.

Observed Result

The VFX Powerup Device seems to only persist every other time a player is eliminated.

There’s been issues with this device forever. I was having to teleport the device to even get it to render on players screens

FORT-1103761 has been ‘Backlogged’. This is an issue that is in a queue to be addressed.

Confirming I have the exact same issue on a Custom Visual Effect with
“Persist on Elimination” enabled — the effect only comes back on every OTHER
respawn (alternating ON/OFF), not on every respawn. Reproducible 100%.
