Hello everybody, I’ve been trying to get the networking working over LAN for some time now, I used to have the server travel/Listen stuff going on but I wanted a more robust system so I started using the session nodes introduced in 4.6. I’ve had multiple problems that I fixed using ‘[OnlineSubsystem] DefaultPlatformService=Null’ and all sort of tricks up until now where everything works fine up until I try to join a session.
The system that I have right no:
-Hosts perfectly
-Finds sessions just fine and lists them using UMG
-‘Successfully’ joins that session
When I join the session it succeeds but nothing happens. The reference to the session works, and it prints out successful when I click join but nothing happens, no travel, no teleport, not even a message nor a crash, just nothing.
I’ve tried it on the same PC, different PCs all packaged projects - simple ones, complicated ones, nothing works. Can someone help me please?
But your server is on a new map? Join Session switches the Player to the Server Map. So if you have “Create Session” followed by “Open Level YOURLEVEL” with option “listen”, the Join Session would connect to the Server and also open “YOURLEVEL” automaticly.
If you run this in the Editor, make sure that the original Server opens the Server and the original clients join the session. I have problems in the Editor if try to let the Client create the session and the server join it.
This seems to be a “bug” due to the already made connection when you start the game in editor with 2+ players (or dedicated).
Haha, glad i was able to help you. I’m goona switch the comment to an answer and accept it. Feel free to reopen the question if you still have problems regarding networking.
