4.7.5 - Texture viewer - pb with transparency

Hi,

When importing a png file with transparency the Texture viewer screw the transparency with artefact but if I render the texture in the UI for example, it’s perfect.

Thanks,

Hi,

yes that is usual, but it works fine with e.g. UMG.
The reason for this is that your png file has different transparency values for each pixel.
I have tried to use SuperPNG with Photoshop CS2 (this software is free) and put the transparency info into the alpha channel manually but that didn’t work too.

If you don’t like this in the viewer, you can import your image as .tga or better .psd, but both have a larger size that.png.

You can also avoid this by creating a png file with just “Is full translucent” or “is full opaque” values in your image.
Nothing between.

Hope that clarifies your issue.

Cheers :smiley:

Thanks, I hope this will be clear for my teammates. As a non graphist, it’s a bit odd to see the preview & UMG correct, but not the texture viewer;
I’m just wondering why the display are different.
