You can move 4.13 and 4.14 to whatever place you want and use them as Binary builds (just run UE4Editor.exe from new location once.) And launcher will know nothing about your binary build of course.
Hi , unfortunately we had to bump the shader version to fix a fairly serious performance regression in the material translator which affected all materials. Normally is something we’d avoid for a hotfix release but regression needed a fix, so apologies for the extra compilation time around!
Does anybody else have crash errors when leaving UE after updating to 14.1? I reinstalled UE completely and made a new 3rd person template and simply running UE and existing now crashes
Hi, guys. I’ve just migrated a project of mine from 4.13.2 to 4.14.1 and got issue right away. It looks 4.14 can’t produce anything greater than 3 Cascaded Shadow Maps. If I increase that number, it will add a “gap” where the new cascaded map should be. In 4.13 I can work with 10 cascaded shadow maps just fine…

@rabellogp You’re 4.14 screenshot says that lighting needs to be rebuilt. Does building lighting change anything?
I’ve just tested that to make sure. No difference, the issue is still there…
It’s awesome to have a TMap now, but do Epics have any plans to implement TMultiMap in blueprints?
Thank the Epic Gods has been fixed. I thought it was something I did. I’ve tried all kinds of search terms and couldn’t get exact one to show up, so I thought it was me.
On a side note: I feel if I did ask, then I would have not been pointed to it being a bug, but ridiculed for “not searching the forums” Or being told “lern 2 google”.
I’ve slowed down on telling people to google something, because lately, not all of us get the exact same results.

My computer: I get all sorts of tutorials Ue4 related, may or maynot get exactly what I need on page 1 but at least its relevant. normally searching videos or brings it up quick.
Wife’s computer: Ai movie, video game cheats, unreal tournament(lol close?), page 3 get some hit or miss results.
Mom’s computer: 4 pages of sewing and taxes before unreal engine results. wat.

i want to ask a question .After installing the newly released version 4.14 ,i got an update button in the versions section of the epic launcher what is it means ???!! is that 4.14.1 or just the same version.Since i don’t want the preview versions 4.14.1 , 4.14.2 , what should i do ?!!
should i press the update button.

Hey , you’re probably just seeing the 4.14.1 hotfix which release recently. It’s not a preview version, but a series of bug fixes. Updating should be find and shouldn’t affect anything negatively.
Hey ,thank you for your response, I remember reading in a documentation or so that preview releases 4.14.1 , 4.14.2 of the engine are experimental and aren’t stable shouldn’t be used for production only at your own
risk,considering that i always wait for the next fixed version number like 4.13 , 4.14, 4.15 ,4.16 …! . So if 4.14.1 is bug fixes what should be the preview version called ,I’m a little confused.

The previews are called:
- 4.14 Preview 1
- 4.14 Preview 2
- etc.
After the previews, the actual releases (and hotfixes) are:
- 4.14.0
- 4.14.1
- 4.14.2
- etc.
I hope that clarifies things!
Hey ,thank you for your response , but do you mean that 4.14.0 has a number of hot fixes 4.14.0 , 4.14.1 , 4.14.2…and so on , until it comes the first preview 4.14 preview 1 which also has the same row of hot fixes .

First there are the previews. So they start with something like 4.14 Preview 1 and might go up to something like 4.14 Preview 5. Then (after that) there is the first stable release, 4.14. It is more stable than the previews before. And then when bugs in 4.14 are found they release hotfixes for 4.14, something like 4.14.1 and 4.14.2. You should always update to those hotfixes. The Preview versions are very old now and should not be used any more.

another maybe noob question , stuff is keeping me awake man all night …hhhh. when i switched from unreal engine 4.13 to 4.14 i found my previous projects downloaded in UE 4.13 in the vault section of the new launcher
.Since i reinstalled win 7 , formatted system drive C drive but my projects and vault folders were situated in D drive and the downloaded content still there .SO when i reinstalled UE4 getting a new version 4.14 because before
reinstalling win 7 i was using 4.13 ,so the new launcher since it’s tied to my epic account recognizes what i downloaded before and it shows up in the vault section like water planes project and reflections project . but i want things
clean so i deleted the projects from the vault folder but they didn’t go away from the vault section of the new launcher (by new i mean after reinstalling win 7 ) ,so i can download them again fresh ,or is that my epic account keeps
a memory of what i downloaded in previous engines versions and i can’t erase them from the vault section of the launcher.
I know why i’m asking all weird question because the reflections project in the vault section of the epic launcher is stuck there and when i download it there was kind of a loop stuck stopping progress for a long time and
for that i wanted to start a clean download of the project again because i found problems in the looped one.
To be short to the point i want to remove a vault project from the vault area of the launcher is that possible !!!.like when removing a project from projects folder it goes away from My project area of the launcher .

@Daniel100 The vault is like “the store”. As in, you bought it at the Epic store. So it’s just a list of what you own (including free stuff you “bought”). It doesn’t take any space on your hard drive unless you download it or add it to a project.

thank you for your response. but why the thumbnails of the vault section of the launcher still stuck there after deleting the vault items that’s annoying , i want them gone so when i take a look i know what items i still have and the vault list would be clear .

- maybe being able to mark the vault item as archived or similar
- removing completely could cause a lot of issues if someone accidentally removed the item then Epic would have to go in & fix it probably
once you download or if someone bought the vault item off the marketplace you really wouldn’t want it permanently removed (reason that they stay available in vault)(as well as you might not need it now, but you never know about the future)
having an option to move the vault item down to an archived section or similar would be actually helpful in keeping the vault in order
so good suggestion imo
Hey @ayretek thank you for your response ,in addition to that i can’t express to you how much i got stuck in a loop downloading xoio berlin and the reflections projects and Right i’m stuck in a loop updating 4.14 ,a lot of loop in the launcher that’s why i’m
suggesting cleaning up maybe old stuff is interfering with the new.
