4.14 lighting broken after upgrading from 4.13

I upgraded one of my Marketplace project from 4.13 to 4.14 but now lighting is completely blown/washed out. Here are some comparison screenshots.

Hey,

I’ve not seen anything specifically like this so far with 4.14. Can you try some of these and post the following for me as well?

  • Have you had any other projects converted to 4.14 from 4.13 that have exhibited this behavior?
  • Can you post your lighting and fog (atmos and expo) settings being used?
  • As a test, can you delete/move your Config folder from the Project Folder and restart the project?

Thanks!

Tim

Hello Tim,

I think the issue is with Skylight. If I set the Skylight to movable I get no issues. Here are some screenshots

4.14 Movable Skylight (Fixed)

4.14 Stationary Skylight

4.14 Stationary Skylight with Intensity set to 1.0

I also made a test project for you. Open this project in 4.13 and see the TestMap. After that open it in 4.14 (select convert in place) and see the TestMap lighting being blown out.

Thanks! I’ve submitted the ticket here for reference: Unreal Engine Issues and Bug Tracker (UE-39159)

Looks like it’s only affecting the Stationary Skylight when I saw the difference between the two. Not sure if there was a deliberate change here or not, but hopefully this can be resolved soon. If it’s a deliberate change I’ll update you here and the ticket to include this information in the event anyone else runs across it. For the moment, I would say using a lower intensity for the skylight would be the best option.
