I’m currently playing with the 4.11 hair shader. The dithering works for me, until I put a sss profile material on the head. Then, the dithering tints blue somehow.
What I tried:
changing sss profile colors → If I pick a blue color on the sss-profile, I can change the dithering color to a red-ish
one, but the skin looks aweful then
playing with the hair shader tangent colors → kinda reduces the blue effect, but the anisotrophic reflection gets
worse
The answer seems to be, that both, the dithering from the hair shader and the scatter-radius feature of the sss-profile skin shader are post processing effects, which get in their way of each other. If I turn down the scatter-radius, the blue dithering artifacts dissappearing but I barely can see the sss effect with scatter-radius turned down, until the blue-ish dithering is almost gone.
Hopefully, someone from epic will see this and know a way around this, cuz I can’t reproduce the nice skin effect with the other “subsurface” shader model like intended.
