Export and Import of the MetaHuman body breaks the rotation of the wrists

Hi,
I ran into this problem when trying to edit the MetaHuman body outside of unreal engine 5.
To have the issue:

  • Export the MH body as FBX
  • Reimport it without any modification
  • Use the imported mesh as the new body
  • Test wrist rotation animations, especially full wrist supination

Result: The rotation of the wrist breaks.
It happens in UE 5.2.1 and 5.3
Any idea what is causing this? I tried multiple import and export setting, without success.

Hi. I had the same problem. When You imported the body, did You use “metahuman base skeleton” or did You create a new skeleton from the fbx file?

When I used base skeleton for body skeletal mesh and imported animation also on base skeleton, I had the same issues with corrective joints. To solve this problem I imported body skeletal mesh and created separate skeleton, and then I imported animation on this skeleton.
