This really depends on the company’s discretion, copyright infringement is quite rampant in the video game community as it is, a lot of people already make money selling their own iteration/works of copyrighted property on shirts, games, Twitch, 3d modeling sites, Youtube, and artbooks. For your case I wouldn’t be worried about any sort of cease and desist or monetary fine, but that risk will always be there if you find yourself heavily invested into this project.
