Your First Material in UEFN

Hi folks,

I really enjoyed the office hour yesterday. As I underestimated a bit the time because of a lack of preparation on my side, I decided to use my morning to record a video about what I have shown plus the rest I rushed over. I hope that helps. I created a tutorial I link here as it contains not only the video but I found a way to link the download for the project itself. I have not tested if there are issues with opening it on your end. It was done with the current FN version but I am unsure if there is more needed to be able to share a project like this
.

Short feedback if it works would be nice.

I hope this helps getting you started and excited about the creative options it gives you. I understand it is a lot at the beginning. Take you time. It’s very exciting when you get something done you imagined before.

I can confirm the project works in UEFN. I got the message below and pressed yes, then all good. Thanks for all this information, Andreas!

Fantastic, thank you!

Oh. Does it mean only one person can check it out at a time because each time you open it, you need to “bind” it to another account? @jay_villanueva do you know?

I am using this template a lot! Would love to see more examples in it in the future, like a material that is textured differently in every side on local and world coordinates (really struggling with that now), as well as mentions of Material instances (didn’t see any inside the template)

Material Instances are there. For the simple stuff like color and such. There are one base and two instances that should be on the sphere, box and plane initially when opening the project.
And did you check out the vase? That has tri planar mapping setup projecting a texture from different sides. You can try to tinker with that with different textures per side.
