Xbox Live Cross-Network with PC and PS4

Greetings. Today is GDC and Microsoft just announceRocket Leagued Xbox Live Cross-Network.

Cross-Network Play
First, in addition to natively supporting cross-platform play between Xbox One and Windows 10 games that use Xbox Live, we’re enabling developers to support cross-network play as well. This means players on Xbox One and Windows 10 using Xbox Live will be able to play with players on different online multiplayer networks – including other console and PC networks.

Some games will be using it like Psyonix’s Rocket League. Such feature will allow any game servers to be filled with players and for the game to not die quickly.

I hope before the release of the PS4 version and the full game, you will consider enabling this feature for all platforms. It would be very nice.

Thanks.

I could have swore that Microsoft experimented with this years ago (when Quake3 was still new) by pitting the worlds best xbox gamers against a few mediocre PC gamers and the xboxers got annihilated so they scrapped the idea in fear that it would put console gamers off since they are at such an obvious disadvantage.

On a technical level this is possible for ages. They basically just allowed it now. They try to make a big deal out of everything these days…
