I’m currently experiencing a known issue in upgrading my plugin to 5.6, see details over here: LiDAR Point Cloud Plugin - Unknown Extension - #4 by WouterWeynants

I am hoping this is addressed in 5.6.1

I’ve worked around this issue for now so 5.6 is available. Until .ply and .las/laz is fixed by the Epic team, please use the .xyz format.
