Would this pc be great at developing in unreal Engine?

Hi Guys,

I apologize upfront as im sure there is a thread somewhere about this already, i am swamped at work and just quickly making a new post as i dont have time to go through all the topics. I am going to be purchasing a pc soon for developing some archviz in UE4. Some input of the tech guys would be appreciated as i am not to sure about what gpu to go for , i unfortunately have a set budget for now but will upgrade as cash comes in. I am not sure about gpu some peeps have said i must rather go for the msi rx 470 im a bit confused.

Intel Kaby Lake i7 7700K 4.2ghz Processor
MSI Z270 Gaming M7 Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance LPX 8gb DDR4 2400MHZ
Gigabyte Geforce Gtx 1050 ti oc 4gb
Raidmax 730w PSU
7200 sata 1tb

Upgrades as cash comes in:
1x or 2x Corsair Vengeance LPX 8gb DDR4 2400MHZ possibly higher mhz ram modules to increase speed
1 x 250gb or higher SSD

Your Inputs would be greatly appreciated  Just dont want to buy for the sake of buy and then i waste my cash and could have gotten something better

8GB RAM is the bare minimum.

Anyway if you are buying from Newegg I can see :

  • Intel Core i7-6800K 15M Broadwell-E 6-Core 3.4 GHz LGA 2011-v3 140W BX80671I76800K Desktop Processor
(if you prefer MSI) - MSI X99A GAMING PRO CARBON LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Motherboards - Intel
    (I prefer ASUS) - ASUS X99-PRO/USB 3.1 LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
  • GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1060 DirectX 12 GV-N1060D5-6GD REV2 6GB 192-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 ATX Video Card
  • CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Desktop Memory Model

A 1060 is a lot faster than a 1050 and you need a powerful GPU to work with Unreal Engine 4 properly.
Four DIMM modules are needed to use Quad-Channel full bandwidth and having 16GB RAM is much better (32GB or 64GB would be even better indeed).
The i7-6800K with 6-core and Quad-Channel DDR4 is faster than a i7-7700K with Dual-Channel DDR4 when you are using 3D Engines and any graphics intensive software.

Get a good PSU whatever hardware you choose. Seasonic, Antec (by Delta) are the ones I always buy for me and friends of mine when assembling PCs.

Thanks so much Dark for your input, sorry i forgot to mention i have a set budget for starting off. I wouldnt say i am going to be doing much game developing but i do understand that none the less one still would need some decent processing speed and gpu to get stunning results.

I unfortunately wont be able to reach the 2011 processors as it would completely blow my budget but i would definately look at that in near future once the cash rolls in. I have been advised to go for a cheaper board and rather get more ram - which it does seem wise and to also upgrade to minimum gtx 1060 3gb if i can get more funding to go for the 6gb.

I was advised to go with the : ASUS ROG STRIX Z270E GAMING motherboard instead and then just doubling up on the ram to 16gb atleast.

i saw a video on youtube of a gtx 1060 on a i5 4th generation i wont say exactly smooth but quality was on point so i think the 7th generation and at 4.2ghz would atleast help on these points making it a steady workflow for now.

I appreciate the feedback and have made notes on your comment for future upgrade
