WorldPlane, UE5 MMOs Made Simple

In support of our own MMORPG games, we’ve built a very robust modern MMO networking infrastructure which we call WorldPlane. Now, we’re opening WorldPlane (www.worldplane.net) to the world for indie UE5 developers.

WorldPlane is essentially plug and play with Unreal Engine. Within minutes to a few hours you can scale your game to thousands of players on a single level. It achieves this not only by breaking the world into many servers with seamless travel between them, but it’ll dynamically reshape those server regions based on load. If everyone moves to one area for an event, or a city has a dense population, it’ll automatically allocate resources there.

You can also have certain actors in the world assigned to different server layers, and players will never know that it’s not all just one giant server. WorldPlane will work with just about any MMO design as you can interact between servers seamlessly (shooting across boundaries, etc).

We would love to hear your feedback and suggestions on how it can be improved!

I forgot to mention that since our target audience is indie developers, WorldPlane is kept as inexpensive as it could possibly be. By that I mean we charge nearly cost on all infrastructure. Using WorldPlane is about as expensive as it is to operate such a system on your own hardware.

WorldPlane was built primarily to host our own MMOs (a fantasy MMORPG and a modern life-sim) and it got so good that we felt it needed to be shared.

We would absolutely love feedback, ideas and suggestions.
