World UI Textures/Materials Fail to Update

Fortnite item icons disappear when used as a texture parameter in a material unless the item is on the ground as a pickup

Summary Item icons from Fortnite.digest (the built-in Epic items like weapons, consumables, etc.) display fine in normal UI contexts, but when you try to use one as a texture parameter on a material, the icon disappears. It only shows up if the item exists in the world as a ground pickup at the time the texture is applied.
