World partition completly unusable, is world composition still an alternative in 5.3?

I’ve completely given up on world partitioning because it’s impossible to work with an 8K map and an 8GB VRAM GPU. I’m not even considering a hardware upgrade because I’ve read about people experiencing the same issues with an RTX 4090 with 24GB of VRAM.

So, as the title suggests, is anyone still using world composition in a modern engine version? Are there any cons or catches I should be aware of?
