World File

I use a program called virtual Crash (VC). VC allows me to import a TFW file and as long as the point cloud and ortho image are in the same folder as the TFW, then VC will align the point cloud and the image perfectly. I was able to get this to work on a drone mission that I processed using ground control points. The ground control points were NOT in a state plane coordinate system. I used a local coordinate system based on my total station located at 0,0,0.

However, I cannot get it to work when I do not use ground control points. I processed a scene using the camera priors and the GPS WGS 84 coordinate system from the drone. The ortho image and the point cloud would not align. I tried not using the camera priors and a local coordinate system. Same problem. I tried exporting the point cloud as a grid and every other possibility. I exported the ortho image every way possible (Image, Global, etc.). I tried all export combinations–nothing will work!

I know that is must be something that I am doing wrong. Can anyone help?

Thank you,

Andy

Hi Andy,

Please check if the output coordinate system in the applications settings is the same as the coordinate system for the rendered ortho projection. During mesh export make sure it is set to output. During ortho projection export make sure the world file is set to projected.
