Working with laser scans and images

I’m working with e57 laser scan files. These laser scan files have been registered in third party software and imported into RC as e57. 

Yet when I run the alignment tool in RC, the laser scan images are not handled together. It appears that RC attempts to re-register the data from each scan location.

How do I tell RC that a certain e57 set of scans has been pre-registered, and should be handled as one?

You can define it when importing the laser scan. If you want to preserve the existing registration, you need to import it as Registration – Exact, this setting preserves the relative positions of the scans. If you want to preserve the absolute positions, you need to import it as Georeferenced - True and select correct coordinate system (local:1 Euclidean if it is some local 3D coordinate system).
