Hello!
I'm wondering how the devs of twinmotion see people work together on one scene?
For us, in our company, we always work together in a scene (Max + xrefs). Because we can't import and rei-mport twinmotion files within another twinmotion scene, i was wondering how the devs see this collaboration happening?
Let's say i have one member who is adding textures to a building while another one is working on the surroundings. Currently (without the merger function) this is not really a feasible option i think.
How do you envision this?
Thank you!
Hello ,
Thank you for posting your question in the community about working collaboratively with Twinmotion scenes.
When working on one machine and sending your work to be completed on another workstation you will need to run the Resource Collector and send the Twinmotion file and Maps folder (which contains the necessary textures).
For reference here are the steps for the Resource Collector:
https://twinmotionhelp.epicgames.com/s/article/How-to-share-files-including-textures-by-using-the-Resource-collector
At this time the only way to work in different files would be to have the same reference point and orientations and then have individuals work on different parts that don't overlap. Use the merge function at a specific point in time, and then have one user at a time finish the work in that merged file. Here is the article referencing the Merge function: https://twinmotionhelp.epicgames.com/s/article/How-to-merge-two-Twinmotion-files
When updating you would need to re-merge and thus having to redo some work and delete the duplicated content. Saving existing materials to your user library to quickly reapply them would save time. Always make copies and backup versions before merging any content.
I realize this is not an optimal workflow for all offices and situations and recommend you make a suggestion on our road-map for how you envision working collaboratively in a Twinmotion scene. https://portal.productboard.com/7pu88c9kpmqtzt8hwg6arujh/tabs/4-under-consideration
Hope this helps and let me know if you have any follow-up questions.
Kind regards,
Vincent B.
