I used a plugin for 3ds max to export the object like .FBX. http://www.tomshannon3d.com/2014/09/tstoolsv11.html
you can trying using 4.9 RC3 and see if that helps. What procedure did you use to import the static mesh?
you could also try loading up the editor in release through code and then opening your project, maybe it will bypass the asserts?
I have tried that, and it doesn’t work. I tried to launch the application, the project, other projects…and the same thing.
Ok, thank you. I will pay attention on this when I could run the programm
you should have a look at
“The UE4 FBX import pipeline uses FBX 2014. Using a different version during export may result in incompatibilities”
my recommendation is to create a new project, try to replicate the crash, so just drag in your static mesh like you did before, and try to make it crash, from there send in a crash report to the guy/gal that made the plugin, and link that bug report to this thread for traceability.
Finally I have installed the 4.7 version and now It works, but not the 4.8 version.
Hi Pnunez -
In the 4.8 Version of your project delete the Derived Data Cache and Intermediate subfolders in the Project Directory on Windows and see if it will open for you.
Thank You
Eric Ketchum
Do you mean C:\Program Files\Epic Games\4.8\Engine and then delete Derived Data Cache and Intermediate subfolders or C:\Users\Desktop\Project and delete the Intermediate subfolders (I don’t have Derived Data Cache) ?
Yes, both.
Ok, I will try in 15 minutes, I am installing the last version now.
Bad news. I did it, but it doesn’t work. I launched my project and it crashed, and then I launched the programm and it crashed too. (Loading until 79-80%)
There is a thing that I can’t understand. I have deleted my project from my PC, and I have removed the 4.8 version, and the I have installed it, but I can’t launch the programm.
Hi pnunez -
Just to confirm are you getting the same crash reporter logs when you try to open the project each time and can you open a blank project without it crashing?
Thank You
Eric Ketchum
I can’t open a blank project without crashing in 4.8. (I can open my project with the 4.9 version).
That is the repot log when I try launch 4.8 (blank project), I don’t know if it is the same crash:

Hi pnunez -
It looks like your AMD Display Driver and Catalyst Control Center are out of date. Can you update those to the newest version via AMD’s website, found here:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/mobile?os=Windows%208.1%20-%2064
and let me know if this allows you to open the 4.8 editor again.
Thank You
Eric Ketchum
I have just done it, but the same crash. Only with the 4.8 version, not with 4.7 and 4.49 which work perfectly.
Hi pnunez -
Without debugging your project myself, I suspect that there was an issue that was in 4.8 but it has been found and fixed for 4.9. I would suggest that you stay with 4.7 until 4.9 is officially released then you can upgrade directly to 4.9.
Thank You
Eric Ketchum
Thank you for the support When will be 4.9 available? Because, I have load my project on the 4.9 preview, and it’s different, it changes the lights, the shadows… like this: (I don’t know if there will be solution with the 4.9 oficillay released)
