Working as a solo dev on My first Game Grid Rush, "learning project" fast-paced Platformer game.

You play as a Virtual hacker that tries to get to the main frame data center to steal data from a large company.

This will be the first introduction level where the player can get a feel of the controls.

Great learning project, really.

Just an idea. Make postprocess material that turns all into pixel graphics, and scanline in amber or green colors. For those older hackers to feel like home.

And maybe stuff from “virus.dos.cascade” and other dos viruses. Also more linux and doc command lines in amber ofc.

Greetings @wesleyV !

The premise of Grid Rush sounds exciting! I dig the music choice. It’s the perfect sneaky, yet smooth soundtrack for a clandestine mission. Kudos to you for taking on this project solo!

Does this game use controller or mouse and keyboard input (or both)? Are you adding any special abilities or items for the player to earn and use? What challenges have you faced in development and have overcome?

I’m really looking forward to learning more about Grid Rush! Wishing you the best of luck!

Thank you for the kind words @Get_DOVAH_it ! Yea that music sounds just great, I got it from Pixabay, so the music is not final, but that is the style of music I want in Grid Rush. The game will support game pad and mouse and keyboard.

I have been learning unreal now for two months, and the biggest challenges I had so far was understanding the logic behind the blueprints and how to connect them with each other,
but Luckily I got help from the Friendly people on this forum. Also, I must say Unreal really feels like home for me, a lot of things click with me like how to set up materials or set up animation and so on.

Yes, I also have added Time pick-ups that will give the player extra time, because if the time runs out it is game over. Also added The fps puzzle kit that was free this Month, that I will use to make simple puzzles with to switch up the gameplay.

That is a good idea! I am Going to look into that for making a post-process material that fits the pickup.

I have added the Illusion of more speed to the player using FOV slider and make it go higher when the player starts running

Adding the illusion of speed to the player model using the FOV slider is a great touch! The gameplay looks lovely so far; I’m excited to see further updates! Also, thank you for pointing me toward your dedicated thread for “Grid Rush.”

Hello again, @wesleyV; I hope you’re having a wonderful Monday! Both of these model designs look fantastic, the newest one especially so! What is the name of our main protagonist, if I may ask?

@Zezkaii For now here name is Navi, always found it a cool sounding word and because I am a bit of Zelda fan

also add wall running and a new blue glow edge shader instead of the blue line into the material.

I have redone the art style of my game.
After seeing and playing mirror edge, I came to the conclusion that I need a colour scheme so that the player knows where he needs to go, so for my game that Wil be the orange colour.

also add a new pickup effect and made wall running feeling a bit more smoothly.

I love this fresh new look of “Grid Rush”! Every environmental detail “pops” more now and adds to the overall lore that you’re a virtual hacker! Also, your promotional art is phenomenal; everything is coming together so lovely for your creation. :star_struck:

I absolutely adored playing both of the Mirror’s Edge series growing up! It was a very challenging game for me to beat. How did you enjoy your play-through? :eyes:

Thank you for that nice comment means a lot :grinning:.

Mirror Edge was a blast to play, and I was surprised at how good it looked after all these years for a game from 2009. Also, how well it used its colour scheme and made the levels unique and pop!
