Here’s an example of texture based masking. It’s a pain to set up and the wood noise gets a bit wonky when you start to adjust things. Vertex color masking works perfectly so I’ll probably make the vid with that method.
This is at the edge of the camera clipping plane but you can see that even using a 2k mask there is still some distortion in the transition between the two textures.
Next one’s up. I cover using rings on a metal bowl and distance based tessellation.
