WO City Fall Scene in 4K HDR

Hey guys! Check out our latest WO City Fall ambiance video on YouTube “WO City”. It’s set in the year 2102, where rising sea levels have flooded many cities. We crunched the numbers to give you a more accurate representation of what sea levels might look like in 2102, using available data and location.

The WO city buildings and streets layout are based on Google data and the Cesium plugin, portraying a futuristic twist on Toronto. The main building is inspired by the Unreal Engine asset, the Sun Temple, but we matched its position and terrace to a real building, down to dimensions, geo position, and exterior lights. We used Reality Scan for patio furniture and some accessories, while also photoscanning exterior objects like the Yorkville sign, trash cans, dog signs, park signs, etc. The detailed description is on our ArtStation “WO City”.

The ambient sounds were captured in stereo 192kHz during a fall outing in the great Canadian outdoors. All our videos are high bitrate 4K HDR, for the best quality on modern screens, but they require a high-speed internet connection.

And the last thing, wondering why WO City is deserted? Well, in the WO story, an unknown event at the Arctic in 2073 caused most of the world’s population to vanish, and we’re in the process of rebuilding the world and finding out what actually happened.

The current WO City population matches the number of our YouTube subscribers, so hit that subscribe button to become a resident. When we hit 1k residents, we’ll throw a virtual party scene. Cheers! :tada: WO City Fall Scene 4k HDR

Thank you greatly, PresumptivePanda! I trust you viewed it on an HDR display or an iPhone, for instance. This is where the excellence of the Unreal to HDR workflow truly shines. It’s the rationale behind enduring the somewhat sluggish YouTube conversion process, which can occasionally span over a week to get to HDR quality. Nonetheless, I firmly believe it’s rewarding. With our modest following, your feedback holds particular significance! Cheers :slightly_smiling_face:

Glad you decided to commit to posting it (even despite the long processing time). It was definitely worth it  Do you have any other environments in the works right now?

Yes, I’ve become a big enthusiast of HDR now; it’s likely to become a standard feature in the future, given the increasing abundance of HDR content. Regarding WO City and its upcoming scenes, thank you for asking  While we’re engaged in various experiments with content created using Unreal on our YouTube sub-channels, the primary WO City channel is centered around a short story that I’m currently expanding into a book. Each scene is meticulously crafted to support the narrative of that story. The protagonists are on a quest to unravel the mystery of the Great Disappearance, during which a significant portion of Earth’s population vanished, alongside grappling with escalating climate catastrophes.

Our plans include several intriguing settings, such as scenes set in the Antarctic, a military base in the ocean, a space elevator, a lunar outpost, and traces of an advanced alien civilization. Additionally, there will be flashback sequences—one depicting a war in Europe, followed by another depicting a global nuclear conflict. We are considering applying for a local grant to expedite the project, but currently, we’re focused on building a small base of followers. This project is undertaken pro bono, purely for the joy it brings. Thanks to Unreal, storytelling possibilities have expanded immensely; it’s truly remarkable!
