http://youtu.be/e6DGLZhS674 Here is a short video of a few mechanics we have going on for a new game we are making. My friend Josh set up all of this with blueprint and we were just testing it out. This is all going to be replaced with real animations, weapons, and so on but for the testing this works well. It is going to help us figure out what to keep and what not to keep. As he works on the mechanics I am working on all the environments and getting them ready for testing. We have about a month into this project and are goal is to finish within a year. Our competitors and games that may resemble what this will play like would be “HellDivers” and “Halo; Spartan assualt.” Though our game will resemble these two we are steering to keep it much different with features I cannot release at this time. I can tell you that we plan to have co-op 1-4 players and single player and that it is a SciFi Topdown. At the moment you can only see enemies swarming to where you have to run and gun but this will not be the case in the future. We plan to have many different enemies that act and fight in many different styles.
As you know, when making a game things can change very quickly so nothing you see or read is set in stone but with that said, we do plan to keep the main concept. Eventually, when we have enough content we would like this to be sort of an open development to keep close to the community because in the end we are just trying to make a fun game for you to enjoy! We are only a 3 man team at the moment but we are dedicated and working hard. This is not going to be easy but it is going to be fun! I will update this thread as we progress with more information to come.
Nice start Looks like you have some decent mechanics down already. I recently invested a LOT of hours into Crimsonland so I look forward to seeing more of this
So many enemies! Great work Bmikes! A lot of the user top-down Created games are looking fantastic. Keep up the great work and be sure to keep us posted as progress in the game’s development!
Thanks Sean, I will post more vids and pics soon. For now. We managed to get streaming working for multiplayer, we also have enemy loot drops and the drop turret is working much better. With speedtree out, I have been playing around and making many different trees and some alien like looking ones. I also have been working on a bunch of modular Sci Fi floor pieces. We have a couple test levels, with more testing I will soon begin to fill them with props and details.
Bmikes - love the swarming enemies, Reminds me of some of the more difficult parts of Geometry Wars (I still have nightmares about that). You guys are building this all with BluePrints? Or just prototyping for now using them? I imagine levels with Multi-level play areas would be a blast in something like this.

Yes this is all with blueprint so far and we might just keep it blueprint. And you are actually spot on haha, we have been testing with some multi level areas and it’s pretty awesome. We plan to have a pretty nice variety of maps and play styles.

Blueprints: We are currently upgrading everything including how the weapons work, explosive objects, diablo style camera when hiding objects in view. We have also been thinking of hiring someone to change everything to code, as of now we are doing everything in blueprint for a rough idea for when we upgrade it.
art: we are just now getting our character designs and I’ll be sharing those soon. I have one level 40% done along with blocking out much more for testing. You will see many different environments including a space station that will be your main base.
I have some more new screenshots of our game. Also, Using some assets from the new UE4 marketplace as well! Our game is a new Sci-Fi Top down shooter that will run sort of like Halo Spartan assault and a mix of a few other games. You will be able to fight on many different planets with strange environments along with returning to your home base, a space station where you can roam around freely to gather information, unlockables, and discover much more.
