Progress is being made for the upcoming update which will add so much to the game, I’ve been taking a slow approach for my game, no advertising/marketing, not sharing anything and just staying off the radar. I see all these new horror games being made in Unreal making their way to famous game journalism websites while I haven’t even bothered to contact even the less popular ones. For some reason, people still find the game and do videos about it and it’s been exploding over the internet ever since. This guy has like 1.5 million subscribers and he did a video about the game, which received over 260k views in less than a day.
The new update will be released during July and it will include tons of stuff, like:
Expansion to the survive map, a new underground/indoor area will be added, it will be somewhat huge, filled with puzzles and progression, it will be pretty hard
New monsters
More optimization improvements
Bug fixes
And more still waiting to be announced!
's a preview of the new “Boss” monster, he will haunt you down in the new area, kinda like pyramid head in Silent Hill, he’s somewhat blind and slow, but one hit from him will turn you into pulp. You can either kill him or stealth through the map, killing him will require tons of bullets, which will attract the horde.
I rarely post anymore since I barely get feedback, but it’s completely understandable since mostly all developers are focused on their own games and this type of game is not their cup of tea, until this game gets an actual artist involved, Epic nor the community will find it visually attractive and a potential candidate for a grant.
Some shots from the new area which will be available in the upcoming update, the game keeps growing more and more, a multiplayer co-op mode is planned for around October before the Kickstarter campaign.
Thanks, the entire progress of the game is posted in this thread and I plan on keeping it updated till it reaches the full release. Anyways, more pictures!
While the game may not be visually appealing at the moment, it seems to become a fun game. I’m very likely to try it out when you release it. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! It’s just me and my animator at the moment, we don’t have an artist with us, hence all this programmer art, most of my assets are from the marketplace :P.
I personally think the visuals are nice. Efficient use of Marketplace assets, fitting the atmosphere. I’m hoping to put assets to good use as well. I’m certain the UE4 Community are used to looking at Marketplace Assets, but, not the rest of the world.
This may very well be a new sub-genre: Action Survival Horror.
Ok…I’m pumped up! Keep up the awesome work, BioXide.
Thank you! Development keeps going strong and there’s so much new features added that will be available in the 0.1.3 update, which is the last free version of PF before it heads into Steam Greenlight!
i’ve been watching this game grow since the first post and this is amazing. The style kinda reminds me of silent hill mixed with killing floor. Can’t wait to get a hold of the finished product!
Yup! Silent Hill, Jacob’s Ladder and tons of other films/games were used for inspiration!
Thanks! I have all the progress done on this game in this thread, it’s insane to see the progress done in a couple of months
's two new gameplay videos from a playesting session I had last night, every monster will have specific mechanics and behavior, this will make encounters with different enemies more varied and fun!
We are planning to update the free alpha one more time before doing marketing push (greenlight/kickstarter, etc), and this update is gonna be huge!
Hey guys! It’s been quite a while since I last posted , but things have been going insanely good for the game, I launched the last free update for the game on Halloween and so far everyone is in love with the alpha, videos are being pumped almost daily by Youtubers, the game is featured on IndieDBs main page and it’s one of the best horror games there and in Gamejolt. I still haven’t launched a greenlight nor a KS since I’m just letting the game grow naturally (And currently working on adding networking support) before proceeding. I’ve also applied for Epic’s Grant program and contacted some staff members to see what they thought about the game, but no response so far :(, I guess Epic doesn’t like open world survival horror games or programmer projects, haha.
Also if you guys could help me out, the game got nominated for IndieDB’s indie game of the year and I’m competing against other insanely good and famous indie games, all you need to do is click on the link below and click vote, no registration required!! http://www.indiedb.com/games/project-frequency-open-world-survival-horror
Anyways, 's a couple of videos from the updated version of the game, enjoy!
Probably the scariest thing that has happened to me in the game, and this is completely randomized, but looks scripted
Some clips from a guy that played the game and got massively scared
It’s been a while since I’ve posted on this thread, but the development of the game has been going nicely throughout these months, 's a new teaser I uploaded today
