(WIP) - Ninja Arcade

Awesome!. I’ll probably look at mine again some time and see what results I get if Epic has changed something now to allow it to work again, or if I simply missed something. If it’s my own fault I’ll have to kick my own *** for being stupid…

@KingTumTum101
I like it. Will you share how you do this in Blueprints ? only the general direction ?

Heres a video showing me stress testing it. I disabled the get up animation to show the blend.

Maybe soon but not in this post.

Looks great dude. Thanks for posting that as well.

I’ve been doing some work on my boss character lately and I thought I’d post a new shot. It’s a high-ish res shot so it’s around 500kb, not too bad I hope for a straight post. This is not actually from real game play, although of course it is a real time shot from the game, it is a posed shot. I did some very small amount of dof touch up in PS. This one really just for the fun of it. Work is on going on this project, slowly but surely things are getting done…

Woah! The boss looks totally grand. Really well done! A very nice fit for your game too imo, reminds me of the Elemental demo’s fire titan in some ways.

I really enjoyed playing your demo a while back, can’t wait to see the game released some day!

Ok, so I finally got some new videos recorded, 2 new videos basically focusing on the Lava Boss in it’s current state. I find it harder to make new videos that show something not really seen in previous videos. Although I guess there’s a lot of things, there’s not a lot of very unique things, if that makes sense. But anyway, I thought focusing on the Boss is maybe a cool thing to show and I decided to show the sort of steps, from sculpt to game. I didn’t go into real detail on any one part, just a quick look at various stages of it. So I hope it’s sort of interesting for someone to see, I mean, my project is not really complex and I don’t tend to do things that’s not fairly well known to other developers, but maybe you’re starting out and it gives you some idea of what’s involved.

So this is the first part, more focused on the model side of things.

This is the second part of the video, showing the blueprint scripting side of things.

DUDE!!! Everything you do is AWESOME!!! I love seeing updates on this project!!!

Haha, cool, thanks man, really appreciate that.

Nice work, Ninjas rule :D, anytime I see someone working on a ninja game I always get that ninja or pirate vibe, have to say i’m a bit of a ninja too :D.

Hahaha, cool man, thanks a lot for the comments, really appreciate it.

So I got myself an Oculus Rift CV1… FINALLY!.. and having fun with it so far. I really like what VR brings to a game. Though I’ve yet to get my hands on some controllers (hopefully gets released soon), but just getting into an environment is such a hugely different experience. It’s pretty awesome.

Naturally, I have to get my game working in VR. More like, get it working as an implementation, since UE4 does any of the VR stuff automatically, which is simply awesome. So jumping straight into it, the game actually kinda works and is very cool to see in VR. I always imagined it, but it’s better than what I imagined. Of course the problem was the camera. Since I do a lot with the camera in game, artificially, that does not translate well to VR at all. So I spent a little bit of time doing a setup that seems to work fairly well… for now. I actually felt the VR motion early on when I got my headset but I’m building up a resistance to it and some stuff I can now use without feeling anything. But with my game, the sideways motion and artificial moves and things just doesn’t work. So I worked it out to using a static camera that updates based on your position and that seems to go pretty well. I’m still super early on playing with this stuff but I really just wanted to show it in VR, it’s just cool. Though sadly a video does not do it any justice, I mean, -100% justice on video but, I still wanted to post it. I am considering to post a simple playable demo with my VR updates, if anyone would even care to try it, but yeah, I’ll see how it goes.

So, anyway, here’s the video for what it’s worth. This one doesn’t show much action. I might post another with some more action in there, but anyway.

It’s been a while and I’ve actually taken a fairly long break from this project, but it’s back up and running again. So I’ve decided to show some new types of stuff, not just blueprints… etc… and sure this is not directly related to UE4 but I thought I’d show this anyway for those who would like to see more of the content creation side.

So, as I’m working on a new creature for the game, I thought I’d record some of the process I take to skin and ultimately rig the character. I did not record modelling, so I don’t show that, but it’s pretty standard. It’s currently about fully sculpted, just need to finalize it a bit, and the in game model is basically done and so I got into the skeleton and skinning and stuff and for that I thought to record it. So I actually recorded it from start to finish.

In this video I basically play back those recordings and talk through the process and I will skip through bits to go faster. I hope it’s not super boring and I hope there’s something there to take away from watching this. Really I just wanted to share some simple techniques and I thought it would be cool to show something in progress since I tend to show completed things, I thought this would be a change of pace…

Cool…

Did some quick tests with this model inside UE4. Just simple material with normal map and some color, no textures yet. Thought I’d share this shot. He looks quite happy in his new environment…

Glad to see you’re back at it and sharing your updates with the community

Cool man, yeah thanks, it’s been a long road and it’s probably yet more long road ahead, but I’ll finish it some day and then… it’ll be finished…

For anyone interested in my game, it is now finally out there. Check out the very first page, I’ve posted a link to the store page. Thank you for anyone that replied and encouraged this project over the years as I worked on it.

Hi @ Anyone working on a Ninja Game gets my Vote! Sorry it took me so long to notice your game. Keep up the awesome work!
