I’m going out of town, bought a new laptop so I can do game dev on my trip. Very nice Maingear system, but I’m -trying to install Unreal with the clock ticking down to a very long flight out of town, and I’m finding that Unreal fails to install. sigh…
It vaguely says I need prerequisites and fails. So I do research and find someone points to a couple files, one of which is Visual C++… however, I’m not finding one that will install for Windows 10.
Also, looking for a list of what other prerequisites I might need, with the clock ticking down it’s hard to do a hunt and peck for hours trying to cobble this together, transfer my projects, install the proper engine and support software in addition to getting Unreal working right.
You could look for the prerequisites in the UE4 engine folder if it did not delete them.
I believe UE4.10 needs VC++ 2015 runtimes(get both to make sure)
Ran into the same problem with my Win10 Machine. I did get it to work in the same manner, however whenever I update the Engine it says it fails and the Launcher still shows me at 4.10.1. When I open my project though, the popup show 4.10.2 so if you run into this, it might actually update it, but the launcher reports as failed. I just ignore it for now.
