will using a metahuman in a UE5.1 project effect metahumans in a UE 5.2 project

Hi,

I have a UE 5.2 project with metahumans version 5.2 in that project.

I also have a UE 5.1 project and want to use metahumans version 5.1 in that project (some animation software/plugins are only compatible up to UE 5.1 which is why still using 5.1).

I created the metahuman 5.1 in metahuman creator and downloaded it in Bridge and then pressed add to put it into the UE 5.1 project and got the message below.

My question is where it says at the top “The changes to the Common assets…” is this specific to the UE 5.1 project? Or is there a folder somewhere that contains common assets for all versions of Metahumans so that if you change common assets in a UE 5.1 project using 5.1 metahumans it will affect UE 5.2 projects and metahumans as well.

On my local C drive there is a Megascans Library folder → Downloaded folder, but there is no Metahuman folder (just folders for other assets, materials, etc). In each Unreal project there is a Metahuman folder - so thought maybe metahumans are isolated to each project version.

Thanks

Hey there @jmgold07! That is a great question! I had believed the metahumans are intended to be isolated to their version due to the nature of version changing it would break their assets each time otherwise. However I’d recommend doing a quick backup of the older files before committing that, if that is the case and it does break future compatibility let me know and we can submit a bug report!
