Hi all, I have three 1080ti GPUs in my HP Z820 workstation. I just replaced one of the GPUs with an RTX 2080ti. I’m uncertain if UE5 will discover and use the RTX card or if perhaps uses all three GPUs. I’m investigating the documentation but thought I would post this question now in case my search is slow going. Thanks in advance for any insights.
Typically, a single window only uses a single context/device in D3D.
If you’re using a workstation driver, it may be able to pretend to be one large device, but I think that may be a quadro only kind of feature (and I’m not even sure that’s supported anymore – haven’t checked for a long time.)
Your best bet is to make the “best” card be the “main” display device, and open your game/editor main window on a display connected to that card.
Thanks for the response. What I’m thinking is more in terms of Nvidia PhysX automatically finding and choosing the RTX 2080ti over the 1080ti cards, which it did, and Redshift and iRay and other render programs automatically finding and using all three GPUs, which they did. So I’m just wondering if based upon those other programs, if it might be safe to assume UE5 will use the RTX, detecting it is the best GPU of the three. My three monitor setup is run by Windows10 display settings under the control panel for three monitors. All three monitors are cabled to the back of one of the 1080ti currently.
