I remember when Fortnite Creative had the “Lock to Player Name” option in spawn pads, but it was eventually removed. That feature was one of the best tools for map creators because it allowed us to target specific players for unique mechanics, custom spawns, and role-based game modes. Without it, we’ve lost a lot of creative potential, especially for maps that rely on personalized experiences or player-specific interactions. It also made team-based mechanics smoother, as we could assign exact players to designated areas without relying on randomization or extra workarounds.
Would there be any chance of bringing this feature back or implementing a new way to target specific usernames in devices or spawn pads? This would massively improve customization and allow creators to design more advanced and engaging game modes. Many map makers relied on this tool, and its removal has made certain mechanics much harder to achieve. Even a different method of assigning players directly to devices would help restore this functionality. Is there any possibility of this being reconsidered for a future update?
That sounds really useful, being able to lock a player to a spawnpad opens up a lot of options.
Have you tried the Player Reference Device ?, how does it compare ?
It’s not that much close, the Lock To Player Name essentially made it so that only players who have parts of that name could spawn on that spawn pad. Player Reference can show the player name and the stats of the player but that’s about it. In my opinion it doesn’t really matter since we have verse persistence now which makes it easier to save admin status etc on someone rather than playing with finicky player spawner options, plus they could easily be abused by normal players. Last time I used them (If I eg set it to “MinebloFN” one could set their name to “MinebloFNDFSFDSGF” and they could still spawn on that spawn pad), with all that being said I would love some kind of way to manage data of players without having to launch the client or having to add them as friends and asking them to join the game with me
You can get a little bit of functionality out of a PRD and lock a player into a class with it.
the player update and activate events are handy.
But then again, the one single activate function is limiting and enabling/disabling different things to catch the activation event gets a bit spaghettified
