Hi, I’m buying a cheap laptop to run ue4 and want to know if the Nvidia NVS 5200M laptop graphics card will work. Also will an Intel HD Graphics 4000 work as the laptop has that as well? I would greatly appreciate any responses.
Thanks,
Harry
It’s a fermi based chip, so it should work. Don’t expect spectacular results though…
No, the NVS 5200M is the equivalent of a GT540M which wasn’t good when it came out which was a while ago.
As far as Intel HD 4000, it can technically run, but it’s a very low end graphics processor as well and won’t be able to handle much.
The point is, it will work and is SM5 compatible(the 5200M/540M). 75% of my work is done on a laptop with a 540m in it and it does just fine for things… As you start getting deeper into a project and begin to need to test performances, then yeah, you’ll want to use newer components.
OK, thanks for your help! I’ll use it and then if it is really bad ill just mutilate the laptop and give it an external GPU…
