Will a Macbook M4 provide an improvement over a Macbook M1 Pro?

Hi everyone, my government is offering some funding to upgrade computers.
Right now I have a Macbook Pro 14", M1 pro chip, 8 CPU, 14 GPU, 16 Gb RAM.
I could upgrade to a
Macbook Pro 14", M4, 10 CPU, 10 GPU, 16Gb.
There’s no custom options, so it’s either this or the massive 16" which is out of my budget.

I currently use my M1 pro with the following:
Davinci Resolve: It’s good enough with RED RAW files. There’s some lagging with slow motion or with simple fusion graphics but nothing that demands an update.
Unreal Engine: it’s OK, but here is where I’m wondering if I’ll see an improvement. Now I’m having to limit quality to get a somewhat luent rendering. Unless there’s any tips I’m missing to improve performance…

I saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duSMwDoDFC0&ab_channel=AndresVidoza which has some good comparisons and what suprised that the M1 pro chip performed better in DaVinci Resolve over the basic M4 chip, so I definitely don’t want to find myself in that scenario.

I run Geekbnech on my M1 pro and these are the results I got (and had some browser tabs open, no plugged to power, so maybe it took a bit of a hit haha)

And according to Geekbench, these are the results for the base M4.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Hello there @bagelcamus!

From what can be gathered from the community, and comparing benchmarks from both models, the M4 will give you an improvement overall, but it won’t be super noticeable.

The main advantage will be around the new model’s improved handling, better capacity with temperatures, and a longer battery life.
