Hello,
I’m planing to buy a Laptop with a gtx 860M. I want to create a game with UE4. ( Not an AAA Game, an amateur game, not with high 3dm model, something really modest.) Will UE4 work with that computer ?
Thank you.

Hi Feurico,
We picked the recommended system requirements to err on the side of being able to run our higher end demos and such. I’m sorry I can’t give you a clear answer as to whether the tools are going to work on your machine or not, and how responsive and fast they will be.
Please take a look at our FAQ page for additional info and our recommended system specs.
Thanks, TJ
I run UE4 on a laptop with the 870M, and everything I’ve tried (including the high-end demos) runs between “fine” and “buttery smooth.”
The conclusion I would draw is that the 860M probably will do fine; worst case you can make the editor preview window smaller if you have shader/fillrate problems.
I’m adding some additional info here as well that may assist you:
The community has put together a forum thread with their machine setups and what their experience is with the engine. The post is titled: [Compatibility List] Unreal 4 - Hardware Feedback]
Take a look there and see if anything matches what you are have or is close. This will give you a better idea than I could about what will best work for you.
I do want to mention as well that the engine is capable of scaling the detail down to give you a better user experience but it will lack features when this is done though. I’m linking the Engine Scalability Settings here to see if this may assist you in what you’re looking for.
Thank you!
Tim
