I am developing a VR game and use WidgetComponents for my Menus. During a test I noticed that all of a sudden none of my WidgetComponents are visible. Even in the Editor, when I add an empty actor with a widget component and assign a Widget, the widget component is still invisible from both sides, but has a weird outline and I am not sure it’s normal, that I am able to select a Material for the WidgetComponent. If I start a new project everything is still fine. So I went back to a previous commit where I am 100% sure, that WidgetComponents were working, but even in that version of my project from 29th of October, WidgetComponents are invisible, even though they were visible, when I made the commit.
If someone from Epic wants a copy of my project, I would really appreciate it, if I could send a download link to an e-mail or something where I do not have to share my game with the whole internet.
Hello AllJonasNeeds,
I noticed that you said you were unable to reproduce this issue in a clean project. If you would like to provide a copy of you project so that I could take a closer look, you could do so by zipping it down and provided a link via drop box or google drive. If you would like to provide it privately, you could do so by sending the link to me in a private message on the forums.
Thank you for the quick reply. I just sent you a forum message.
I ran a couple of tests on the project provided. However, I did not see the issue that you mentioned in your original post. Could you provide a detailed set of steps to reproduce this issue in the project provided?
I just reconnected the power to my computer and booted it back up, to try it again and I also did not see the issue. So I guess this is one of those weird times where just hitting the restart button is not enough, you have to do a full “power off, plug out, wait, plug in, power on - restart”. So I guess the problem is resolved, unless the issue magically reappears tomorrow morning.
Thank you so much for offering your help, I very much appreciate it.
As I wrote in the latest comment, a full “power off, plug out, wait, plug in, power on - restart” solved the problem for me. Just clicking Window’s restart button was not enough.
