Why to share assets is a nightmare?

I want send by mail a Niagara Particle System and a Material to a friend.

1 - I tried to save the file but i got and unuseful .T3D file…

2 - I tried to copy the .uasset but it is like if it does not exist in my friend project.

3- I tried to migrate the files to an new empty project but this action remove the original file from my project (obviously i don’t want remove it, i just want share a copy).

Some other option available to share assets?

Thank you so much!!

Hey there @Ivan3z! Migration (#3) is the proper way to move/copy assets to another project as it handles moving all the pieces and letting the project it’s moved to find it. The only thing I’d change is instead of sending the original, just make a copy of the asset itself (in the content browser).

Hi @SupportiveEntity

it is a good idea!!

Do I need to make a copy of the dependencies too?

I mean, the particle system uses a material.

When I make a copy of the particle system, the original and the copy are using the same material.

When i migrated de original particle system the material was moved too.

So, if the material is moved the particle system will be broken.
Or not?

Thank you so much!!

Don’t worry… do not need answer… i made a test.
When i migrated the files disappear.
But if i refresh the content browser the files reappear.
It must be a editor bug.
It made me think that the files were deleted.

Thank you so much @SupportiveEntity !!
