WHY THE NEW OFFLINE MEMORY SYSTEM IS A NIGHTMARE TO CREATE

Since the memory system update, which no longer calculates the addition of devices and items on the map in real time, I’ve tried to get used to it, but it’s just a huge waste of time for us and slows down our creative process considerably.

In what specific case? All creators know that memory is at the heart of map optimization, so we have to optimize our additions every second.

Before : I want to add 1 wall to my map, so I select several similar ones to test which one is the least memory-intensive. I then place them on the map and see in real time how much each wall adds to the memory. I make my choice. This takes me a few seconds.

Today: for the same operation, let’s say I have 6 walls to test in order to choose one. I have to place each wall and push changes to see how much it takes up. Knowing that a push (excluding verse) can take at least three minutes, and sometimes longer. I have to spend 3 minutes on each wall, so 3x6 = 18 minutes to choose a single wall. And that’s for each element of the map.

As we are REQUIRED to optimize every fraction of the map, it’s a nightmare and a huge step backwards.

Added to that, sometimes the memory doesn’t calculate properly, so you can’t calculate at all.
