Hello! So I’m trying to attach a sword to my character, but when I move the hand, arm or anything in the skeletal mesh, it doesn’t update anything in the actual game. How can I make the changes I make actually work?
For example: Even if I move the entire arm 190 degrees to another direction, after I press “play” nothing has changed. I’d like to fix the sword holding position but cannot because of this.
Hey there!
It sounds like the issue might be related to how the skeletal mesh is being updated during runtime. When you move the arm or hand in the editor, those changes may not be reflected during gameplay unless they’re part of an animation or attached via a socket.
To fix the sword holding position, I’d recommend the followings,
Make sure you’re attaching the sword to a socket on the hand bone (done in the Skeleton asset).
Use an Animation Blueprint to control the hand position dynamically or adjust the Transform Bone node if you need to modify it during runtime.
Check if any animations are overriding the bone positions during gameplay.
Feel free to let me know if you need more specifics!
