I’ve just followed this quick start guide on how to create a behavior tree, but the AI isn’t moving when I approach the mesh. I have followed every single step, and I’m confused on why this isn’t working. The guide uses a top down perspective, but I’m currently using first person. Any help will be highly appreciated. https://docs.unrealengine.com/latest/INT/Engine/AI/BehaviorTrees/QuickStart/index.html
It would be easier to help if you would upload your project, or at least screenshots from the important blueprints and from the tree.
By the way every link to the “12. Build a behavior tree” leads to the “10. Make a task” to me, so I could not build a tree based on that source. I used the AI Guard video tutorial from zoombapup. It’s pretty good, I would recommend you to try that too ![]()
Here are 5 images, I’ll upload 2 more in a second. That also did the same for me, so I was unable to finish the tutorial. Does the tutorial that you provided use blueprints, because it seems like the tutorial uses C++. I just need a lot of help with this considering I have just started using behavior trees today ![]()

It does use blueprint. (You should have watched about 3 min from the video to find out
Maybe it sounds pretty harsh, but you should really check and try things yourself as long as possible. The engine is complicated, you are going to face problems after problems you will have to solve. Things like “checking if a tutorial is c++ or blueprint” should not cause any problem…).
Your behavior tree does not do anything, you need to add tasks, services, decorators, etc. to the tree.
I suggest you to watch the tutorial, it shows and explains the basics pretty well.
Alright, I’ll give it a watch in a second. I’ll update you tomorrow on my progress.
Thank you for the source!
Sorry for the late response, but I have finally finished following the tutorial that you showed me. I haven’t followed part 5 though, because the aspects within that part are irrelevant to what I want to implement. The AI character basically takes the player’s health, but I was wondering if you could tell me how I could end the game for the player when the player has died? I have a main menu, so basically I want the game to end, but go back to the main menu afterwards. Here’s an image that will show you how the character’s health is affected.
